Donna Dodson (Boston, MA) Donna’s pre-med studies and her passion for Egyptian art led her to study wood and stone sculpture. African sculptures and Native American totems also influence her work.
“My artwork celebrates the mystical relationship between human beings and the animal kingdom. The forms say something that words could simply not express. There is a tremendous challenge in making a work of art for all the trials, and progressions one experiences before the form will come alive and begin to resolve itself. Sculpture is labor and time intensive and making art is a lifelong study with lessons for the eye, the hand, the mind and the spirit.”- Donna Dodson
Donna Dodson graduated cum laude from Wellesley College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts. Since 2000, Dodson has been honored with solo showsin New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Kansas, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Dodson enjoys public speaking, and has been a guest speaker in conferences, panels and forums at Clark University, Cahoon Museum of American Art, York University, University of Rhode Island, Pittsburg State University, School of Visual Art and Stonehill College. She is a member of the Boston Sculptors Gallery, and the Wellesley College Friends of Art. She won a George Sugarman Foundation Grant in 2007. Dodson lives and works in Boston, MA.

‘Mon travail est une célébration de la relation mystique entre les êtres humains et le royaume des animaux. Les formes racontent quelque chose que les mots ne peuvent simplement pas exprimer. C’est un défi énorme que de créer une œuvre artistique. Avant que la forme prenne vie et se réalise il y a certaines épreuves à surmonter et des avancées à faire qui nourrissent et informent la forme et l’œuvre finale. La sculpture demande beaucoup de travail et de temps, et ‘faire de l’art’ est une forme d’étude qui dure toute une vie amenant des leçons pour soi, la main, la tête et l’esprit.’
Donna Dodson a obtenu sa licence (Bachelor of Arts) avec mention de Wellesley College, MA, Etats Unis, en 1990. Depuis 2000 Dodson a fait des expositions individuelles à New York, dans le New Hampshire, au Vermont, à Kansas, à Rhode Island ainsi que dans le Massachusetts.
