The Verbier 3-D Foundation is proud to present a new site-specific installation by this year’s artist-in-residence Cannupa Hanska Luger.
During his six-week residency in the Swiss Alps, Luger deeply engaged with the Val de Bagnes landscape and community. Drawing on his multidisciplinary practice, he explored the complex, evolving relationships between people and place, engaging with themes of ecological awareness, cultural heritage, and collective coexistence.
Luger approached the region as a living entity shaped by climate, resource use, migration, and ancestral memory. The resulting new work merges local folklore and traditional practices with sculptural form and ecological discourse. It is a powerful reflection on the environmental histories embedded in the local Alpine terrain, serving as both a protective and provocative space. The work functions as both a site of protection and provocation, inviting viewers into a space for contemplation, communal exchange, and envisioning renewed relationships within the more-than-human world.
The installation will be on view starting September 6, 2025, in the Verbier 3-D Foundation Sculpture Park.
