This summer, the Verbier 3-D Foundation is pleased to unveil ‘Verbier Sunset Mural, View Towards Val de Bagnes from Chapelle St Christophe’ (2025), a striking new commission by former residency artist Tessa Perutz. Installed atop repurposed ski lift infrastructure at the highest point of the Sculpture Park, the mural initiates a layered dialogue between the alpine landscape, contemporary art, and human perception.

Perutz returned to Verbier in 2023 for a second residency, having first participated in 2018. Immersed in the region’s dramatic topography, she developed new work exploring themes of perception, time, scale, and the sublime. Known for her “psychological landscapes,” Perutz fuses intuitive gestures with conceptual clarity, crafting visual narratives that move between the intimate and the expansive.

Inspired by the sweeping views of the Val de Bagnes, the mural translates the landscape’s chromatic shifts and structural contours into a vivid, dynamic composition. Its elevated site amplifies the work’s psychological resonance, positioning the viewer both physically and metaphorically at a vantage point for reflection: on the environment, the self, and the act of looking.

On view from 21 June 2025 at the Verbier 3-D Foundation Sculpture Park.
